Tuscaloosa Tourism & Sports | POSTED IN ,

Change is in the air in Tuscaloosa this weekend as we send off thousands of long-term visitors in the UA graduation commencement ceremonies. We here at Visit Tuscaloosa wish these graduates the best and have enjoyed hosting them these past four years. To celebrate, we have a ton of great events going on for graduates and their friends & family to enjoy.

Alan Jackson with Riley Green at the Tuscaloosa Amphitheater

For more than 25 years Alan Jackson’s music has provided a soundtrack for American life. Whether someone is plowing a Kansas field or toiling away in a factory in an urban metropolis, Jackson’s songs have chronicled the hopes, dreams, and values of everyday people. Hits like “Remember When,” “Drive” and “Where Were You (When the World Stopped Turning)” have become an enduring part of America’s musical landscape, but Jackson’s restless creative spirit won’t let him sit on his considerable laurels. Jackson will play the Tuscaloosa Amphitheater on Friday, May 4, and is almost a sellout! Art Night at Kentuck

On the northern banks of the Black Warrior River stands Kentuck Art Center, an artistic and cultural jewel of the Tuscaloosa community. Each first Thursday of the month they invite the public to experience local art and artists and live music. The event runs from 5-8pm and always features something new and different. Lose yourself, and find yourself in the world of Kentuck.

    Tuscaloosa Farmers Market

The Farmers Market has returned to the Tuscaloosa River Market, and they will provide you the best local fruits, vegetables, honey, and more from 7am-noon each Saturday until November. This is a great way to support local farmers, bakers, and artisans while eating healthy and delicious food. These vendors accept EBT/Snap, WIC, and SFMNP.

    First Friday Art Walk

First Friday has become a staple of the Tuscaloosa community, bringing together gallery owners with the art-craving public. This free event allows you to stroll downtown (with your libation of choice in hand) and view art at any of the downtown galleries. You never know what you might find, as we have seen an original Salvador Dali painting before! Art Night begins Friday at 5 and usually lasts until 8 or 9:00 depending on the location.
