Events in Tuscaloosa This Weekend

The weekend is approaching, and as always, Tuscaloosa has plenty of opportunities to make this weekend a memorable one.  From concerts at our finest local venues, to brewery tours at the Black Warrior Brewery, there are a handful of options to help make your weekend more enjoyable. In addition to the events below, we have another great installment of Live on the Plaza this Friday night from 6-9pm. Tuscaloosa will have an entertainment district in effect downtown during these hours, so grab your favorite libation from Cravings, Heat, Catch-22, or any of the wonderful downtown bars/restaurants and enjoy the tunes from Jake Austell and 4G.

 

“Blind Love” at the Bama Theatre

The popular stage play makes its appearance at Tuscaloosa’s very own Bama Theatre. Filled with Comedy, Love, and Suspense, the “Blind Love” cast plans to amaze audiences. Get your tickets now to one of the 5 shows planned for the weekend ahead at bamatheatre.org. Show times are as follows: Friday: 7 P.M. Saturday: 1:00, 4:00, 7:30 P.M and Sunday: 3:00 P.M. You are also invited to the show’s afterparty at Band of Brothers on Saturday night from 7-11pm. We will have Houndstooth Food Truck, live music, and great beer!

 

Universal Sigh

Looking for some high-energy Rock N’ Roll this weekend? Swing by Green Bar on Friday, June the 15th to see Universal Sigh. From Athens, GA, the 4-piece band features an abundance of compositions to get the crowd moving. The band has been known to show similarities from well-known artists such as Umphrey’s McGee and Radiohead. Expect the show to start around 10 P.M.

 

Cookie Throw Down and Bake Sale

If you love cookies, cake, or just love to bake, you can participate for a worthy cause this Saturday, June the 16th at the downtown YMCA. The event helps support the YMCA’s Kid’s First Annual Campaign. From 9 A.M. to 6 P.M. you can swing by the bake sale sponsored by Mary’s Cakes and Pastries to show some support. Then, from 10-12 A.M. feel free to participate in the cookie decorations contest to show off your skills, and more importantly, to support the YMCA.

 

Black Warrior Brewery Tour

Go behind the scenes this weekend at Black Warrior Brewing Company. On Saturday, June 16th you can participate in one of the two tours that occur each Saturday at 1 or 3 P.M. you can join a group on the 45-minute tour of the brewery and taproom. The tour is $10 and includes a souvenir glass and brew.

 

HARD

Do you want more music to fill your weekend schedule? The band, “Hard” makes its return to Alcove Tavern on Saturday, June 16th. Known for “denim, sweet riffs, and leg kicks,” the band “Hard” passes through Ttown on an early leg of their summer tour. Catch them around 10 P.M. Saturday at Tuscaloosa’s one and only Alcove Tavern, one of Tuscaloosa’s most popular beer bars.
