Events in Tuscaloosa This Weekend

This is what we call an eventful weekend in T-town! Tuscaloosa offers a range of entertainment: from food, to music, museums, and sports. You can never go wrong with our weekly events at the Farmer’s Market and Live at the Plaza. With that being said, we have some new opportunities for fun. This weekend Druid City presents the Songwriter’s Festival and Dames roller derby.

 

Farmer’s Market 

The Farmer’s Market can be found at the River Market located on Jack Warner Parkway. It is open every Saturday from 7 p.m. till noon. The event gladly accepts EBT/SNAP, WIC & SFMNP. If you use your EBT card to purchase tokens which can be exchanged from food and other eligible items from the vendors. It’s a great way to please the entire family with fresh produce, grass fed beef, artisan crafts, and more!

 

Live at the Plaza 

If you haven’t already, you need to check out this family-friendly atmosphere at Government Plaza. This is the fourth annual Live at the Plaza summer concert series that goes on every Friday from 6 p.m. till 9 p.m. As usual, great entertainment is lined up once again for the public to enjoy this weekend. Kick back and relax to music from Druid City Songwriters followed by the Mulligan Brothers.

 

Druid City Songwriters Festival 

Get ready for a Tuscaloosa takeover of the Druid City Songwriters Festival! Venues all over downtown Tuscaloosa are preparing to welcome over forty songwriters for a special “in-the-round” experience. You will have the opportunity to enjoy performances of multi genres in some of Tuscaloosa’s favorite venues. Performances occur from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. on June 21st-22nd, and from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. on June 23rd. Visit druidcitysongwritersfest.com for more information

 

Druid City Dames Roller Derby

The Druid City Dames will take on the SouthernHarm Dames Derby this weekend on June 23rd. Come out and see athletes like Assault E. Senorita and Hannibul Wrecker in a thrilling and competitive bout.  Tickets and location details can be found at http://www.druidcitydames.com.

 

Children’s Hands On Museum 

The Children’s Hands On Museum is a place of curiosity, creativity, and discovery! Three floors of fun where visitors are encouraged to touch, feel and play in our exhibits. This weekend is National Ratcatcher’s Day! On June 23rd you have the opportunity to “catch” the rats in CHOM for a prize. The event runs from 9am to 4:30pm.
