Lake Adventures

Lake Nicol, Lake Harris, and Lake Lurleen offer incredible views, safe hiking trails, and picnicking environments. Lake Nicol and Lake Lurleen offer additional water activities. You can rent paddle boards on Lake Nicol and paddleboats on Lake Lurleen. Along with that, Lake Nicol and Lake Harris provide picnic tables. However, don’t be afraid to just lay down a blanket or set up an ENO to relax at any of these beautiful family-friendly lakes.

 

Walk the River

The Riverwalk is one of the most popular places in Tuscaloosa. It is the perfect running, biking, walking and dog walking trail. The path is divided by a painted line for all walkers, runners, and bikers to enjoy their experience safely. Street lamps line the trail for people to visit at any time. The Riverwalk runs between Jack Warner Parkway and the beautiful Black Warrior River. Playgrounds, picnic tables, benches, and gazebos are found along the path of this family-friendly zone. Bower’s Park

Bower’s Park offers unlimited family fun! At 1600 James I Harrison Jr. Pkwy E, you can play numerous sports. In addition, the Bower’s Park pool is a popular place to explore the poolside rock wall, giant slides, and more. With as many fun activities going on at Bower’s Park, you still have the opportunity to for a relaxing outing. Tuscaloosa has several golf course options: Ol’ Colony, North River Yacht Club, Links at Tuscaloosa, Indian Hills Country Club, Tall Pines, and Hidden Meadows. All courses are available on weekends. At Ol’ Colony Golf Complex you can find an 18-hole course, driving range, and a free 3-hole course with balls available to purchase on site. The North River Yacht Club provides an 18-hole course with an exceptional putting surface. Indian Hills Country Club offers a summer camp for junior golfers of all ages and abilities. Tall Pines Golf Club is Tuscaloosa newest public golf course. It is an 18-hole course with an available cart. Lastly, Hidden Meadows Golf Course provides an 18-hole course and includes a driving range and a large putting green.

 

Explore Campus

The University of Alabama is known to have one of the most beautiful college campuses in the country. At the center point of campus is the University’s quad. This is a perfect place to picnic, throw a Frisbee, take your dog, or just hang out. The quad is surrounded by an incredible view of historic landmarks. From the quad, you can see the President’s Mansion, Gorgas Library, Denny Chimes and more! At Denny Chimes, you will find why the University of Alabama is where legends are made. Hand and footprints of some of Alabama’s most legendary football players are found surrounding the monument. But don’t stop there! The Walk of Champions at the front of the stadium is where you can find statues of Nick Saban, Bear Bryant, and several other legendary Alabama football coaches.
