  • Top 5: Reasons to Attend Celebration on the River

Tuscaloosa Tourism & Sports | POSTED IN ,

The Fourth of July is right around the corner and that means Tuscaloosa is gearing up for its annual Celebration on the River. We have come up with five reasons why you should definitely make plans to attend the celebration this year.

    1. The Cost
Let’s be honest, fireworks are expensive, but the 4th of July just wouldn’t be the same without them. This celebration is the perfect way to enjoy the best firework show around without spending any of your own money. Admission is totally free so all you need to do is show up, grab a seat and enjoy the show.

    2. Kids Zone
The Tuscaloosa County Parks & Recreation Authority sets up the PARA Kids Zone every year on the lawn of Tuscaloosa News. This is easily the best way to entertain your kids this holiday. The Kids Zone offers inflatable games, laser tag, face painting and a climbing wall- just to name a few. The Kids Zone opens at 6 p.m. and will remain open until 8:30 p.m.

    3. Symphony Orchestra ft. Taylor Hicks
The Tuscaloosa Symphony Orchestra will be performing around 8:00 p.m. and you won’t want to miss it. The concert will feature a set list of some of the most popular patriotic songs and salutes. Former American Idol winner and Alabama native, Taylor Hicks will be making an appearance during the concert. Don’t miss out on your chance to see the star for free this 4th of July. This concert is the perfect way to settle in with the kids before the fireworks start.

    4. Concessions
Concessions will be sold throughout the night. What better way to grab a snack for the kids and a beverage for yourself? You and the kids can stay full and hydrated throughout the night without having to worry about who’s doing the cooking. You can also carry your drinks “to-go” within the boundaries of the entertainment district.

    5. Fireworks
Finally, the part everyone looks forward to on the 4th of July- Fireworks. The event will end with a firework show set to last nearly 30 minutes. The fireworks will be huge and will be enriched by the view of the Black Warrior River in the background. It’s without a doubt the best show you’ll find in around here, and you definitely don’t want to miss the extravaganza.
