Events in Tuscaloosa This Weekend
June has flown by, and this weekend we welcome July and all the excitement that comes with it. We have seen tons of action in Tuscaloosa over the course of this summer, and this weekend is no exception. From fine art to live music, keep reading to find out what the buzz is all about this weekend. 🎶
Live at the Plaza
Every Friday night in June and July, the Government Plaza will host live music by the best performers and bands in our area. So far, Tuscaloosa locals have come out each Friday night to enjoy the talent, delicious food, and lively atmosphere. This Friday, June 29th from 6-9 pm, The Lamont Landers Band will be performing. The event is free and will be accompanied by various food truck and vendors. Audience members will be able to purchase alcohol from local bars and restaurants surrounding the plaza, so be sure to pop in to your favorite venue and take a look at what’s offered! Bring a picnic blanket or lawn chair, gather up your friends and family and head out to the plaza for an evening of live entertainment. And don’t forget to bring your pets!
Tedeschi-Trucks at the Tuscaloosa Amphitheater
We are thrilled that the Tedeschi Trucks Band will be in town this weekend performing at the Tuscaloosa Amphitheater! The Tedeschi Trucks Band is a blues-rock group that has released three albums and won a Grammy award for the Best Blues Album for their 2011 release of Revalator. In the south, we love nothing more than to sit back, enjoy a drink, and listen to the soulful melody of the Blues. For tickets to the Saturday evening show, you can visit the amphitheater’s website at www.tuscaloosaamphitheater.com. Another piece of info that might push you over the edge to attending this show is that the Drive-By Truckers will be the opener! If you’ve never seen this Athens, GA based band that is all about the South then you simply must. This is the show of the summer!
Soul in the South at Hotel Indigo’s Lookout
Powerhouse soul singer and The Voice contestant Amber Sauer will visit Tuscaloosa on Thursday evening to perform at the rooftop bar of Hotel Indigo along with former American Idol contestant Justin Oliver. This is a unique combination of a great performer combined with an incredible live music venue that sets Tuscaloosa apart from other cities in the South. We have also heard word that Lamont Landers will be opening for Ms. Sauer in preparation for their Friday night Live at the Plaza set. Get tickets here, and don’t miss this incredible live music set.
