Weekend Events in Tuscaloosa
Less than two weeks are left until Christmas! Whether you still need help getting into the holiday spirit, or if you are ready to celebrate, there are tons of holiday-themed events happening in Tuscaloosa this weekend. From live music to river parades to holiday markets, there is something fun for everyone to get involved in.
Christmas Afloat 🎆
On Saturday, a very special lighted holiday boat river parade and fireworks show will be held on the Black Warrior River. This event has been organized by the Tuscaloosa Christmas Afloat Foundation Inc. and the Pirates of the Warrior Recreational Boat Club. There will be 10 to 15 boats in the parade, lasting about two hours. The parade starts at 5 p.m. and the fireworks will be at 5:45 p.m. No admission will be charged for this event! It will begin at the Riverview boat landing area, just upriver from the Woolsey Finnell Bridge, and then will proceed downriver toward the University of Alabama and the downtown areas of Tuscaloosa and Northport. Don’t miss out on this special event!
O’ Christmas Tree at CHOM! 🎄
The Children’s Hands On Museum is back this Saturday with another fun event. From 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., attendees will be able to participate in “O’ Christmas Tree at CHOM!” The activities will include making Christmas tree ornaments, designing a festive wreath and playing holiday games. 16th Annual Holiday Singalong 🎶 🎅
If you love Christmas Carols, the Tuscaloosa News is hosting the perfect event for you. On Saturday at 1 to 2 p.m., the 16th Annual Holiday Singalong will be in Capitol Park. This event is free to the public, and lyric sheets, accompaniment, song leaders, food and drinks will all be provided. The carols will include classics such as “Frosty the Snowman” and “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.” This will be a family and pet friendly event! For more information, call 205-310-5287.
Very Merry Market at Holidays on the River 🎁
Haven’t finished buying presents yet? Instead of online shopping, shop local to support Tuscaloosa’s local businesses. For the next two Saturdays from 1 to 4 p.m., Holidays on the River at the Tuscaloosa Amphitheater will be having a “Very Merry Market.” Many local businesses will be set up with the perfect gift options for the holiday season.
Acoustic Open Mic Night at Druid City Brewing Company 🎶
For an event that is less holiday themed, visit Druid City Brewing Company Sunday night at 6 p.m. They host a weekly acoustic open mic night that brings some of the best new music that Tuscaloosa has to offer. There is no cover for this event, and it is a great way to end the weekend. For more information, visit their website here.
