Cole is the author of One Hundred Pearls, a sweeping historical novel that explores themes of identity, memory, and resilience. A teaching professor of English at The University of Alabama, his scholarship focuses on African American literature, LGBTQ+ studies, and historical memory. His op-eds have appeared in major outlets, including the Chicago Sun-Times and Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Known for his love of research, Cole draws inspiration from literary greats like Trudier Harris, James Baldwin, and T.S. Eliot. At this event, he will share insights into his creative process, discuss the inspirations behind his novel, and engage with readers. Attendance is free, but seating is limited.
