Step into more than 200 years of Tuscaloosa history during the Historic Tuscaloosa Downtown Walking Tours, held each Saturday in April. Hosted in partnership with Visit Tuscaloosa and Historic Tuscaloosa, this guided tour offers an engaging way for visitors and residents to explore the stories, architecture, and landmarks that shaped the city.
Tours begin at 10:00 a.m. at the historic Jemison-Van de Graaff Mansion and last approximately 90 minutes. Led by William Hawkins, Executive Director of Historic Tuscaloosa, participants will journey through Tuscaloosa’s past—from its time as Alabama’s state capital to the vibrant cultural and architectural evolution seen downtown today.
Each tour is limited to 20 participants to ensure an interactive and personal experience. While the tours are free to attend, donations to Historic Tuscaloosa are encouraged to support the preservation of the city’s historic landmarks.
Registration is required due to limited space. To reserve a spot, contact Historic Tuscaloosa at (205) 758-2238 or email info@historictuscaloosa.org.
