Join Historic Tuscaloosa on Saturday, September 12, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. for our annual Battle-Friedman House Volunteer Workday at the Battle-Friedman House & Gardens.
Whether you’re a longtime volunteer or looking for a new way to get involved in the community, this is a great opportunity to make a meaningful impact while learning more about local history and meeting others who share a passion for preservation.
No prior experience is necessary! Historic Tuscaloosa staff will be on hand throughout the day to provide guidance, and all tools, gloves, and supplies will be provided. Water and light refreshments will also be available for volunteers. Just wear comfortable clothing and closed-toe shoes suitable for outdoor work.
Throughout the years, our volunteer workdays have included projects such as landscaping, clearing brush, painting, repairing fences, planting trees, installing interpretive signs, and other preservation efforts that help keep our historic properties beautiful and accessible for the community.
Historic Tuscaloosa maintains five historic properties throughout Tuscaloosa, and our volunteers are an essential part of preserving these irreplaceable landmarks for future generations.
Volunteers are welcome to arrive anytime between 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. Whether you can stay for the full three hours or just lend a hand for a short time, we’d love to have you!
