Northport will hold a new Independence Day event, the 4th on Main Celebration, 4-10 p.m. July 4 in its downtown area, where Fifth Street and Main Avenue intersect.

The celebration begins with a non-motorized patriotic parade featuring participants in holiday attire riding decorated bicycles, tricycles, wagons, and strollers. The parade will be led by Northport’s own Uncle Sam, setting the stage for an afternoon and evening of community celebration.
Activities throughout the day will include: Live music featuring talented Alabama performers , a special Veterans Recognition Ceremony honoring those who have served our nation , Food trucks , Face painting and family-friendly activities , and one of the area’s best views of the annual fireworks display across the Black Warrior River.
The 4th on Main is designed to bring residents and visitors together to celebrate America’s history, honor those who have contributed to our freedoms, and showcase the vibrant spirit of downtown Northport. The event is free and open to the public. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and spend the evening celebrating Independence Day with family and friends.
